Listen to the trees (2019) is a series of short videos that explore the ways in which trees communicate with one another. This project led on from Changing Perceptions (2019) and initiates a new way of looking at the way we interact with our environments. This series began my exploration into text within artworks and how the effect of a viewer can be manipulated through adding singular words of dialectic to a piece that could otherwise have other connotations.

The size of Listen to the trees (2019) can be adapted to fill the appropriate space, in the photos above the projection can be seen at three sizes from differing angles. The use of sound and text makes it seem as if the trees are trying to communicate creating an unsettling atmosphere.

Listen to the trees #2 (2019) shows the same footage side by side but the context is changed by the lack of colour. This makes the footage seem different or slightly out of pace with one another. It plays with how we see things and how easily perceptions can be changed.

Living Cultures (2019) relates human qualities to trees, personifying the woodland, making the viewer reconsider their surroundings and how they interact with nature.
